Peter Attia talks a bit about the octagenerian decathlon, which is a list of 10 fitness tests that are important to work on for successful again.
This is more of a personal decathlon.. to be the best athlete in the neighborhood. A balance of athletic goals.
Note i left off swimming, biking and rowing (these are dependent on access to a pool and all are technique or technology dependent in the case of a bike). Most of them are to obtain some type of metric.
I didn’t choose 100 meter or shorter sprints.. even though i do them as risk of hamstring tears (and accurate timing) preclude them.
- 400 meters
- 1 Mile (lots of 1 Km repeats though)
- 5 Kilometer
- 10 Kilometer
- Marathon (mainly to just have all day endurance, not willing to devote the majority of my training time towards this)
- Bench press
- Squat
- Deadlift
- Bicep curl (barbell or dumbbell)
- Clean and jerk (or snatch).
